Caedmon's Call and My Own Call

Last night I went to a Caedmon's Call concert at South Valley Christian Church. I am beginning to realize that although the music and vocals are not as clear as when you listen to them on CD, there is something so special and so unique about listening to it live. The music pounds in your chest. The artists are real people, who can improv when the battery in one of the guitars dies and say silly things to make you laugh. And wow, all the talent in their abilities to play multiple instruments. Did I mention that Caedmon's Call have 7 members!!! Three on different types of guitars, three singers, three drummers, and a keyboard player. (You will notice this does not add up to seven since I did say that several of them do multiple things for the band.)

Anyway, this was all good. But what was even better was what Cliff Young said between the songs. He and his band recently spent time in India, caring for the dalits (the unfortunate 250 million outcasts in India) and recording music in their honor. One of the things he realized [my closest to accurate interpretation] is that here in the US, we Christians get so caught up in perfecting our own spirituality, that we are not caring for others as much as we should be. We go from book to book, study to study, fellowship to fellowship, all to make us feel better about our spirituality. Not that any of these things in themselves are bad but if that is all we do, trying to perfect our faith, we are not filling out ultimate purpose here. Purpose, hmmm, some may wonder if we have a larger purpose than just making it through the day or perhaps satisying his/her own desires and needs. But I am not here to debate that now. Just as Cliff said, I believe that our purpose is to bring Glory to God in all that we do, to bring Him pleasure and honor. Well, I am going to stop writing now because I have to make a super important phone call to my best friend Amanda. Calling...

Here I Am

So I decided to join the blogging frenzy.
It seems like something that is right for me since I certainly have no problem rambling on and on. (Just ask my Dad.) Whether anyone decides to read this blog is whole other matter. ;D
Well, a longer posting will happen later.
See you around (I hope).
